I had just turned 15 and had huge frizzy ugly hair and was convinced that I was going to be the next great American ballerina. 10 years ago Chira and I had just created our very own “Take on The World” walk which on hind site we really need pairs of black stiletto boots, tighter jeans, and bigger boobs to really pull off – I also had a secret crush on Adam Perry (you have to be a very secure woman to admit that, but since Chira has been pulling skeletons out of my closet this week, what the hell!) after all he did buy me candy bars at lunch…

Bob and Gwen

I have to say that the thing I am most proud of in life is the fact that I am the granddaughter of Robert and Gwen Hadley. I know that my brothers and every cousin we have would agree that when it comes to grandparents we have the absolute best! These are two people who have opened their arms and home to every crazy person their children and grandchildren have brought home and are wonderful examples of unconditional of love and support. My grandparents have been married for over 60 years and are more fun to hang out with then you can imagine. My grandmother Gwen is the best dam card player you will ever meet (not to mention smarter then the rest of us) and I can proudly say that my grandfather "Bob" taught me to play poker at the age of 10 (they even bought us poker chips for Christmas).
My grandparents are cattle ranchers and they still live on the land that my grandfather was born on. I have always considered it an honor to be a Hadley, and to have their last name as my middle name, and it is my plan to pass the name on to my children. I have been lucky enough that my grandfather was the one who blessed me as a baby, baptized me when I joined the LDS church, and was my witness when I was married Eric in the Logan Temple; being their granddaughter is truly a most wonderful blessing.
Grandpa's "Famous" Song:
Way out on the windswept desert, where nature favored no man,
The Buffalo found his brother why out on the windswept sand,
Said the Buffalo to his brother did nature get ya this way,
Well his brother never said cuz his brother been dead, been dead since o'way last May.
(Yodeling......)
**There are more verses, however I don't know them because when he taught us this song we were young and they are not exactly "G" rated.

Sister I Never Had

My best friend, sister I never had, Brittany came to visit this last week from Texas. Brit and I have know each other since we were about 12 and were party girls in the Nutcracker, however we did not decide to be joined at the hip until high school. Brit also just had (3 mo. ago) the most beautiful little girl, Clara Ann who could not be any cuter, however I am somewhat partial! I just have to say I miss Brit so much I am even trying to talk my husband to applying for grad school in Texas in hopes that he will get accepted and Brit and I can once again be in the same state! Below is a picture of Brit and I at my last performance and of Clara and I this last weekend, I just love this baby she is such a sweetheart!

Luck of The Irish!

St. Patrick's Day is one of my favorite holidays! It is the one day a year when being red headed, fair skinned and freckled is cool. So in honor of my heritage (or at least what my dad claims to be my heritage) each year on March 17th I make corned beef and cabbage. This works out great because my hubby loves corned beef and cabbage and there is nothing like pleasing your man!

Big, Stupid, Idiot...That's Me!

Oh #*%@! I hit a pole, coming out of the Wendy's drive through on Monday at 8:30 pm. I popped my almost new tire, hurt the rim, broke the side view mirror, busted the fender, broke the lights, and dented and scratched the passenger door while only going 5 miles an hour. But don't worry "The Pole" was fine! Oh hold on the story gets worse, I had also forgotten my cell phone and had to go into Wendy's to borrow their phone and phone book so I could call Eric. Then he comes and gets me and I have to take him right back to work. Latter we go to change the tire and in my hitting of "The Pole" I bent the tire onto the frame and the tire will NOT come off! So the next morning we had to call a tow truck to have the car taken to the shop and I will spare you the details of the tow guy (yikes!). It then took the shop till Friday to get back to me on an estimate...$2,605 thank goodness for insurance! I am now convinced that my car is jinxed, since I bought this car, less than 5 years ago, it has been in 7 incidences, that's right 7! However it may be the driver and not so much the car!

Go Away Snow!

We made a trip to our favorite store today, REI! We went
to buy rain gear for backpacking trips because we had our dividend (if you don't know what I am talking about it is where you get so much money back from the things you purchased the previous year) and a gift card from my brother Alex and a 20% of coupon, YEAH! However, being at REI made me really anxious to get out and have an adventure, I am so sick of being shut up in my little cinder block bomb shelter (aka, my apartment).

Anyway so I was reflecting on the fact that it may come as a shock to some to see this once ballerina as a backpacker/camper, after all it is a well know fact that in my previous life I was (and still am to a point) a major priss. And then I thought many of you may not even believe me when I say I love to go backpacking. So thus the reason for the picture! This is Eric and I at the top of Kings Peak (13,528 Feet) last summer. I know we both look like total dorks but I love this picture because I never thought I would ever be able to climb the highest mountain in UT and it makes me feel like one tough cookie! We did this 30+ mile trip with Mel and Jim and had so much fun. With that all said I will never ever climb Kings Peak again! However, I am in desperate need of another adventure, any suggestions?

Dressers and Desks...

We got new furniture! Up until now almost every piece of furniture in our house has been crap that we have gotten for free from family and friends. However, the other night after the dresser drawers refused to close anymore we broke down and went to IKEA and bought two new dressers and then the next week we broke down again and went to IKEA and bought a new desk. IKEA now has most of our tax return. Eric spend hours putting the new furniture together, I was not helpful I knitted and watched movies.

Anyway here are the pictures of our new digs. Eric has now passed a new rule that no clutter is allowed on the new furniture, in fact the other day I left my ear rings on top of the dresser and got a lecture. I think my mother's OCD is rubbing off on my husband. If I only knew that new furniture endorsed cleanliness in my husband I would have broke down and bought new furniture sooner, now if I could just get him to put his socks in the hamper. I wonder what sort of power a new couch would have?
